Types of Pathways
Induction: A step-by-step guide of core IRIS Connect features. This pathway is useful for teachers new to the platform as well as anyone who needs a refresher.
Teacher Collaboration: Designed for teacher groups, this pathway supports identifying shared development priorities, engaging in a reflective cycle, implementing changes, and sharing progress with the group.
Self Reflection (Standard and AI*): Supports you in recording and reviewing a lesson using a structured framework to select an action-step. Follow the steps to engage in deliberate practice and assess its impact on learning.
Coaching (Standard and AI*): Structured approach to video to informed coaching conversations. This pathway supports the selection and rehearsal of an actions-step and provides an ongoing link between the Coach and Coachee as the strategy embeds in practice.
Reflective Coaching (Standard and AI*): Integrates instructional coaching with structured reflective practice. After identifying a development area through reflection, the Coach helps the Coachee select, rehearse and embed an impactful action step.
*AI assisted pathways provide objective, in-depth analysis of teaching at the click of a button.
Starting a Pathway
When you're ready to begin, ensure you're on the Pathways tab under your left navigation panel. Then click the button.
You’ll be directed to a library containing Pathways made by IRIS Connect, for you. (For custom pathways please get in touch with your IRIS Connect consultant).
Once you've determined which Pathway to being, click the Start button.
Before you get started, you will have the opportunity to name your Pathway, give it an optional due date, and if it's a Coaching Pathways, assign a Coach and Coachee.
All Pathways
If you choose, you can change the Pathway name from its default. You may also choose to assign a due date for this Pathway.
Coaching Pathways only
If starting a Coaching Pathway, you'll need to decide your role: Coach or Coachee. Whichever you choose, the remaining role will need to be assigned to another user in your Organisation. Under the Other Participant section, click the drop down menu, type the user's name and select.
Keep the box checked if you'd like the user to receive an email and platform notification.
Admin Assign
If you're an Admin, you are given the option to assign a Pathway to a member of your organisation.
After clicking the "Start a Pathway+" button, click the Admin Assign Pathway button to start.
You'll now see this message in confirmation:
As normal, you can give the Pathway a new name, as well as a due date. Use the Select User drop down menu to select the user to whom you are assigning the Pathway.
Components of a Pathway
Each Pathway has 6 main sections
1. Shows the title of your Pathway as well as visual blue bar representation and percentage of your progress. If a due date has been assigned, this will appear as well. It will be blank if there is no due date.
2. This shows the structure of the pathway. This section will show you which page you are on. You can click other pages to navigate to them. However, we recommend using the 'Next' button in section 5 to move onto the next page. Some pages (as shown below with a lock icon) are not ready to be viewed until certain milestones have been completed). Once the Pathway is complete, you can navigate back to completed pages.
3. Some pages of the Pathway include additional instructions. Click the View button to open a pop-up with directions for completing section 4 of the Pathway.
4. This is the main section of the pathway. It shows the content of the page you are currently on.
5. The < Prev and Next > buttons are used to move you to the next page in the pathway.
6. These are your Pathway assets. If you are an admin of the Pathway you can view materials such as the associated Reflections, Assignments, etc. You can also view the members of this Pathway, and as an admin can add users and make changes (more information in the next section).
Pathway Members
If you're an Admin of the Pathway, you will see a Members tab in your Pathway assets.
Here, you can view existing members and add members if you so choose. The members page will look similar to below. If you'd like to add another user, click the Add member + button and type the user's name.
There are three "types" of users in a Pathway: Standard, Can share reflections, and Admin; as outlined in the below image:
Click the Default role button if you'd like to change the default ability of added users. Our set default is Standard.
You can adjust an individual user role by clicking the three line icon to the right of their name, and then "Edit Role".
Click "Remove" if you'd like the user to no longer have access to this Pathway.

Locating your Current Pathways
Once a Pathway has started, you can relocate it at any time in your Pathway home page.
Ensure you are on the Pathways tab of your navigation panel.
Once on this home page, you will see your current Pathways under their corresponding type: Induction, Coaching, or Reflection.
Tracking your Progress & Additional Homepage Information
On the Pathway homepage, there are six key pieces of information.
- Your Pathway Title
- Your Pathway progress: Percentage your Pathway is complete. Will progress with each milestone.
- The participant(s) of the Pathway
- If a guide has been selected within the Pathway, it will appear here
- "Nudge" button: Will appear on Coaching pathways with two members. If you're waiting for the other members to complete a pathway milestone, you may want to nudge them by sending an email/notification as a reminder.
- Your "resume" button, to continue/revisit your in progress Pathway.

If you're looking for a particular Pathway, you may find our search tool helpful. Look for a Pathway by typing a participating User name, or a Title in the associated drop down menu.
