What is an MDM System?
A mobile device management system (MDM) is an administrative system that is used to help companies manage large volumes of devices, including installing and updating software and providing support to those devices.
Features we use
Using the MDM we are able to:
- Send you the devices with the IRIS Connect Record app pre-installed. This means you don't need to install it from the Playstore.
- Push out app updates.
- Access logs to the device which help with troubleshooting issues.
Your responsibilities
We are not providing security management of the devices. As the devices are not locked down you will need to follow your standard security and management processes as you would with any other devices that your organisation manages.
If you need the admin password to access the full operating system functionality of the device please contact our support team.
If you find any actions are blocked by the MDM, please report the error code to the support team who will be able to unblock it.
Disabling the MDM
If your device is on the Mobile Device Management system it will have these 3 icons on the right-hand side
You can disable the MDM via this button (the key). Press and hold it for 2 seconds and an administrator password prompt is displayed.
Enter the admin password and press 'Login'
Then select 'Exit To System Launcher'
Select 'One UI Home' if you have a Samsung device.
Removing the MDM
If you would prefer not to have your devices on the MDM please contact our support team who can remove it from your device and then you can configure your device as you wish.
The standard setup process is:
- Install the Record app
- If you are using a Discovery Kit, install the blue and green backgrounds
- Securing the device - see this kit management article
