Review a Reflection
Access your Reflections library
Use the navigation pane on the left side of your platform page to access your personal Reflections library.
Select the Reflection you wish to access
From your Reflections library, identify the Reflection you would like to use. If you have many pages of Reflections, you may find the filter tools on the left-hand side are useful.
Select Review to go to that Reflection's review page.
Add Text Comments
You will find the Comments tab next to the video player in a Reflection review screen.
Type your comments in the text box, then click the teal Send button.
Your comment will be saved and a timestamp will be added.
Add Media Comments
NOTE: Screen Capture Advisories
Screen capture is not supported on mobile devices.
Additionally, screen capture is not supported using Safari. We recommend using Chrome for recording screen captures
As well as text comments you can also add media comments. Click on Media Comment to see the different options:
All the below options are able to be added as comments to any video:
- Video - this will enable you to record from your webcam
- Audio - this will enable you to record from your computer's microphone
- Video and screen capture - this captures both your selected screen and webcam
- Screen capture - you can record your screen
- Video upload - you are able to upload a pre-recorded video
You will need to ensure you have enabled the browser permissions to access the camera and microphone
Prior to recording you can select your input device (which microphone/webcam etc) and also which screens you want to record if making a screen capture:
When recording you will see a box like this:
Once you have clicked 'stop recording' you will see the uploading window. Dont close the window or click delete recording unless you are sure you don't want to save it. There are no backups of the file at this time.
On this window, you can add a text comment to accompany your media comment
And also select whether the video plays at the same time as the comment or is paused. This can be edited under the comment settings
Comment Privacy
Before confirming your comment, you can choose whether you'd like it to be public or private. If you select Private, the comment will only be seen by you. Other users will not be able to see it.
If Public, anyone who can view the reflection can also view the comment.
Select the drop down menu under the comment box and make your selection.
To change the privacy after the comment is posted, click the three dot icon and click Change Privacy.
Make your change and click Update.
Link Resources
To link a resource in a comment, first click Link Resource
The select the type of resource you want to link from the 4 options
Search for the resource using the search box, add a comment if you wish, then click the Link button to add the resource to the comments thread.
The linked resource then shows on the comments as shown below
Timestamps
Timestamps show which part of the video you were watching when you wrote the comment.
The below comment was added at minute 19. No duration is shown as the video was paused.
In the below image, you can see the comment took 21 seconds from starting typing to submitting so it has a time stamp at 51 seconds into the video and relates to the next 21 seconds.
TIP: Click on a comment to watch the relevant moment in the video.
Simply click on any comment to be taken to the moment in the video to which it is linked.
When you watch the video the comment will be highlighted yellow as the timestamped part of the video is played.
Edit a Comment/Timestamp
You can edit a comment that you have added to make changes to the text or to adjust the timestamp if it is not accurate.
The timestamp should relate to the moment in the video that the comment is referring to. Sometimes, typing a comment takes longer than the elapsed time of the moment that it references. In this case, you may wish to alter the timestamp that was generated.
To edit a timestamp, click the 3 vertical dots and select Edit Timestamp
Use the sliders to select the start and end points and then click Save.
TIP: Pause the video to select the 'start' and 'end' times.
You may find it easier to have established your desired start and end times for your clip before starting to edit. Jot down the times you want, and then pause the video, using the scrubbing bar to find them in the video.
Closed Captions
If you have enabled the closed caption setting you will see the comment displayed on the video as well.
The comment will display for the duration of the comment's timestamp.
